The installation consists of a drawing - made with a mixed technique of pan pastel and graphite - and a multimedia projection. The drawing is the result of a layering of frescoes and palimpsests found within the convent. The various intersections of the images are then erased through a process of self-dissolution.

The projection - positioned directly on the surface of the drawing - expresses the incessant evolution of time through a loop that simulates the passage of day and night, with a continuous change in the temperature and hue of the light and the passing shadows of the cloister. These different levels of interaction between the two media create a device for the memory of the place, in which the history and perception of humanity - stimulated both visually and musically - are synthesized in a process of slow and inexorable erosion.

The musical counterpart consists of a musical piece for ensemble and live electronics, Graduale, that mirrors the concept of the visual part. It is built upon historical musical materials, two Gregorian chants, from which all musical elements and pitches in the piece are derived. The chants are "Locus iste", the Graduale for the Mass of consecration of a church, and Psalm 141-142, related to St. Francis' life. These materials, fixed as anchors, suffer modifications and parodies, that are in turn illuminated by the different passing harmonies, which mirror the transformation of sunlight tones during the day. The electronic part provides a resonant background that travels through space, as the sun does through the sky. The piece's structure reflects in scale the duration of a full day, with twilights and solar midday represented by important musical turning points.
