The project emerges from the metaphor of the stump sustained by the forest, a natural phenomenon in which a tree stump, apparently lifeless, continues to live through the underground network of roots that connect it to other trees: this act of mutual care, invisible yet vital, becomes the central metaphor of human collectivity and interdependence. In our fragmented contemporary societies, the forest proposes an alternative paradigm: a living network of support, where survival depends on connection and reciprocity.

The project explores this notion through a dialogue between visual art and soundscape. We convey the conceptual core through twelve visual works, four for each of the three visual artists. One immersive soundscape links everything together. Practically speaking, each poster stands on its own, because we want to symbolize the diversity of species in the forest. However, to achieve the sensation that all the plants are working together symbiotically, they are attached to the same vertical wooden support.

As a natural linking element, we added stabilized moss into the gaps between the visual works. Every piece is designed in black and white, making the green of the moss stand out as the cohesive element of the composition. The installation invites the spectator to experience a living ecosystem of signs, sounds, and textures. The stool symbolizes a moment of human stillness within a dynamic network, a gesture of contemplation and co-presence with the living world.
